Huawei recently announced which devices can expect an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. The Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei Nova, Huawei Nova Plus, Huawei Mate 8 and the Honor 8 were mentioned.
It seems like the Honor 8 will be the first Huawei smartphone that will be updated to the latest version of Google’s operating system. Android 7.0 Nougat brings many improvements. For example, messages are displayed logically in the notification area and you can respond directly without openening the corresponding app first. Thanks to the split-screen multitasking addition, you can now simultaneously run two apps side by side. Also the power saving mode by Doze has been improved: it now works even when your phone is in your pocket and the sensors are therefore active. Your phone no longer needs to lie still on the table before Doze can doing its job. The interface has also been changed as folders and icons are now round.
The update is also accompanied by a new interface. EMUI 4.1 will be updated by EMUI 5.0. Henceforth, the skin looks more Android than iOS. Featured, among other things, is an app drawer. Which allows you to see at a glance which apps you have installed on your smartphone. Also, you can remove apps from the home screen without deleting them permanently. You will also get a feature called App Lock. It allows you to protect certain apps with a PIN code, character pattern or fingerprint.
But when users can get started with Android Nougat and EMUI 5.0? In February 2017. That’s what Huawei confirmed to us. That means that you will still need a little patience, but it’s worth to wait for it.
