The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has also been announced during Xiaomi’s launch event and it just looks stunning. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 features a 5.99 inch display with a resolution of 2880 x1440 pixels. The display continues at the edges of the top and sides even further than the first Mi Mix. The black bar on the side is reduced by 12 percent, which is making the full front of the smartphone as a display.
To get this design, Xiaomi has processed the speaker at a tiny slit that sits at the edge of the display.
The device features the best hardware of this moment, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB of RAM, a 12 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization at the back and runs on Android 7.0 with MIUI9. Xiaomi is not following the hype of a dual camera setup but offers a single 12 megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor with a 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilization and a dual LED flash on the side of the sensor. Other features are a fingerprint scanner on the back, a 5 megapixel sensor that supports face recognition and autofocus (placed on a small chin at the bottom) and a 3400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
Notice worthy is the connectivity of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. The device has support 43 bands which includes 22 LTE bands. This means the Mi Mix 2 can be used in a lot of countries compared to other Chinese devices. Futhermore the device has Bluetooth 5.0, virtual SIM support but unfortunately no 3.5mm audio jack.
Xiaomi has released the phone in four different memory variants which are all powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset with the Adreno 540 GPU. The following variants have been released with its pricetag:
-6GB RAM + 64GB ROM (¥3299 – $506)
-6GB RAM + 128GB ROM (¥3599 – $552)
-6GB RAM + 256GB ROM (¥3999 – $614)
-8GB RAM + 128GB ROM Special Edition (¥4699 – $721)
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 will be available later this month while the special edition version will be available in October.
