OPPO launches R9S, features Sony IMX398 & Snapdragon 625

We have mentioned it before the last week and now it’s there. OPPO has finally launched the OPPO R9S and the OPPO R9S where both the devices are capable upgrades of the R9 which has managed to sell very well in China as well as internationally under the name OPPO F1 Plus.

The specifications of the OPPO R9S are a 5.5 inch 1080p display which has now compared to the R9 the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Inside the R9S there is a Snapdragon 625 chipset which performs much better than the Helio P10 chipset which can be found in the 39. The Snapdragon 625 should also ensure better GPU performance than the R9 model. Next to the upgraded chipset the OPPO R9S will have 4GB RAM and 64GB of ROM.

In design the OPPO R9S remains the same as its predecessor, but it features a new split antenna design. A split antenna design means that it has three super narrow antenna lines at the back instead of one thick line. This makes it less visible and better in design and OPPOP says it also improves the WiFi signal and overall coverage.

The camera also received an update. The OPPO R9S comes with the all new 16MP Sony IMX398 sensor. The sensor is reportedly fast and comes with a custom 1/2.8 inch sensor and extra wide F1.7 aperture that is capable of capturing as much as 40% more light than previous generations.

The OPPO R9S will go on sale on October 28 for 2799 Yuan ($416) and will be available in three colors: gold, rose gold and black.
