According to figures from market researcher IDC, OPPO has reached a market share of 16.8 percent in 2016 which makes OPPO the largest in its home market for the first time. In 2016 the company sold in China more than 78 million units which is more than any other manufacturer.
OPPO is followed by Huawei with a market share of 16.4 percent, followed by Vivo (14.8 percent), Apple (9.6 percent) and Xiaomi (8.9 percent). Last year Xiaomi was the largest in the Chinese market, but the company saw its sales shrink by 36 percent while Oppo and Vivo both double their sales. The four Chinese smartphone makers out of the top five have collectively produced more than half of the market. According to IDC better products and specifically to China targeted marketing ensure that their smartphones were often sold.
