Chinese manufacturer ZTE has launched their latest flagship, the Nubia Z17 during an event at Bejing. The successor of the Z11 has a 5.5 Full HD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC, 8 GB(!) RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
With the support of Quick Charge 4+ the battery, which has a capacity of 3200mAh, can be charged up to 50 percent in 20 minutes. Also, due to the IP67 rating, the phone is water resistant. According to the manufacturer the Z17 can remain under water up to an half an hour. The Z17 is the second Chinese smartphone after the Xiaomi Mi 6 which uses the Snapdragon 835 too.
The phone has a dual camera setup on the back. Both cameras have a f/ 1.8 aperture where one sensor is a 12 megapixel camera and the other a 23 megapixel camera. The pixel size is 1.4μm while a 1/2.55″ image sensor is being used. For selfies, there is a 16 megapixel camera on the front with a f/ 2.0 aperture and a 80 degree viewing angle.
The Nubia Z17 has a metal housing and has no 3.5mm audiojack. According to the manufacturer, the Z17 contains a Dolby Atmos certified speaker, which should provide better and more comprehensive sound. Furthermore a fingerprint scanner is present and is placed on the backside. The device measures 152.6×72.4×7.6mm, weighs 173 grams and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The device will be available in blue, black with gold accents, black, gold and red and is expected to be available soon. In total the Z17 will be available in three different models: 6GB RAM and 64GB RAM will cost $ 411, the model with 6GB RAM and 128GB RAM costs $ 499 and the model with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage gets a $ 588 price tag.
