Confirmed: OnePlus 5 will be released this summer

OnePlus has revealed that it will release the successor to the OnePlus 3 and 3T, the OnePlus 5 and will be here this summer. As you can notice the OnePlus 4 is skipped, this is because of the meaning of 4 in China. In Cantonese, 4 sounds like “death (死)” which is bad of course and this is why 4 is skipped often in China.

So what can we expect from the OnePlus 5? Officially there is hardly anything known about the new device, all the specifications we know are just rumors. These rumors include a 3600 mAh battery that charges 25 percent faster than the newest OnePlus 3T model, a 5.5 inch display, a dual camera on the back, a front placed fingerprint scanner, a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. Again, these are just the known rumors at the moment.

Furthermore an official price and date of appearance are not yet known, although Oppo Mart is already advertising the OnePlus 5 for €409/ $449 with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal memory (a 128GB version is also listed but not priced) and an appearance from the begin of June. Please note that the Oppo listing may not be accurate, because it’s following the rumors.
